Obama's Universal Health Care

I'm sure everyone loves the idea of world where everyone has access to health care, and not just be the emergency room visits.

But as it stands not one elected official has read any of the 5 proposed bills, same thing happened with the stimulus and bank bail outs.

And Massachusetts is on the verge of needing a government bail out because their state wide universal health care plan is failing.

I welcome discussion and debate.

Well, i'm in spain, where we have "free" health care, and the only thing i know about it in USA is that you can be lying death in front of a hospital, that they won't be helping you if you don't have an insurance

Hospitals have to "at least" stabilize you, after that they can kick you out. Right now, I don't have insurance, but I can make an appointment with my doctors office, and see someone that day, and only pay $10-$15 for that visit. Emergency on the other hand, flat $200 for just walking-in in most cases followed by an indeterminate wait. $400 ambulance fee, but at least you see someone rather quickly.

When I was 12 or 13 I got a 3 inch long 1 inch deep gash on my inner left thigh, and 3 inches away from the twig and berries. I had state insurance at the time, because I had no other insurance and was under 21. Got to the emergency room and had to wait 2 hours because I had "controlled the bleeding." Funniest part was 1 year later the doctor that gave me the stitches because ended up as my pediatrician.

Both uninsured and insured I have never had any problems with the health care I received.

I've been uninsured, and I've been treated. It would be nice if things were less expensive, but I prefer our current system. In the U.S. that is.

I'm a coldhearted bastard and I refuse to pay a single cent to help some poor person who doesn't deserve it (because face it, there are some who do but the vast majority DON'T). Poor people are poor FOR A REASON. -_-

I feel if people won't work to secure their own health, then they deserve to be unhealthy.

I miss the good ol' days when people worked for a living.

If they didn't, they wouldn't eat. Sadly, that ended about 110 years ago.

I can only imagine the political fallout if someone woulda tried this in the 1850s. That would be the career-ender of many an elected official.
