I realized something.
I really, really, really like Japanese books. o_O
Maybe it's because they think differently over there, or maybe it's just because I'm a weeaboo loser, but I always had a soft spot in my heart for translated stuff.
So, Viz started a media label called HaikaSoru and I picked up this book called All You Need Is Kill (Lololol Engrish), an adrenaline-pumping futuristic warfare novel about a guy who operates a mecha suit called a Jacket. The style is gritty and action packed, the translation is full of profanity, and it's really satisfying, even though it's what the literary snobs call "fluff."
I dunno, I enjoy reading books like Battle Royale and the translated Ghost in the Shell novels (holy shit those were good). I know Vertical is publishing the Guin Saga books over here, but...
Anyone know of any particularly good translated books? Please and thank you.
