The Aruul look very similar to humans and are indeed originally from primate stock by all accounts, but their evolution took a different turn at some point, giving them a number of physical and psychological traits that cause them to differ from humans. Most Aruul are highly though not indiscriminately sexual, causing them often to be misunderstood by other races. Aruul are genial in their contacts with others and often form fast friendships… even across the lines of battle. Aruul honestly do not possess the concept of limits and barriers to friendships and see nothing wrong with befriending a soldier on the opposite side of a brutal war and then doing their best to kill him the next day. Their physical traits include a golden tint to their skin, accentuated cheekbones, black hair that exists only on their heads, and a tendency toward a lithe, wiry muscle structures. All Aruul possess the ability to manipulate raw energy and use it for various purposes. Some of the greatest assassins, engineers, and artisans in the Empire come from amongst the Aruul.
Though Aruul lifespans were originally only a few hundred years in length, their long alliance with the Empire has resulted in that lifespan expanding to well over five thousand years on average. They, like the Bhamind and Imperial Humans, originate in the Gelaan's home universe.
